zagat gourmet shopping & entertainment
This funky Bed-Stuy bakery/cafe run by a husband-and-wife team is appreciated for its housemade breads (its cheddar loaves are a signature, as are the cracked wheat), red velvet cake and other sweets, as well as panini; its warm wood-accented space serves as something of a gathering spot, a venue for kids’art classes and a place for local artists to display their works.

gardeners and composters: need coffee grounds?

Friday, March 31st, 2006

as fellow gardeners and former earthy crunchy californians, bread stuy would love to donate coffee grounds (and any veggie scraps) to anyone who gardens… bring a container and ask at the front counter. just doing our part to help the environment…

if you are not sure what to do with them, there is a lot of info online including the site below that has a variety of different uses besides composting….
